The kind that doesn't like rusty nails :-)

My favorite cocktail is ice and whisky, or ice and vodka.

I repeat: the Rusty Nail is the nastiest drink I've ever had.

"These drinks are about as manly as male cosmetics."

The actual list should look something like this:

11. A GOOD beer (from Stone, Victory, Dogfishhead, etc)

10. A shot of GOOD bourbon, straight up or with a splash of water (pappy, bakers, bookers, etc.)

9. Another GOOD beer

8. Single malt Scotch with a splash of water

7. GOOD vodka straight up or with a non-girly mixer like OJ. Being named after a tool (screwdriver) helps.

6. etc

No, they're not "cocktails" per se, but what man drinks something called "cocktails"?
Well, we would not be allowed to call them some other kind of tails. :-)

If you are drinking ANYTHING out of this, you might as well admit to being a pillow biter ahead of time.....:-)

I did a search for pillow biter and got this drink recipe from drinkmixer.com:
3/4 oz bourbon whiskey
3/4 oz peach schnapps

Pour the bourbon whiskey and peach schnapps into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well, and strain into a powder-rimmed highball glass. Add a twist of citrus fruit for flavor, and serve. :-)

Well I have news for you...article pictures notwithstanding, Manhattans aren't served in those. (They're served in "old fashioned" glasses, with lots of ice.)

And your obsession with issues of "manliness" is troubling...have you considered professional help? :-)

I stick to drinks with the ingredients in the name: rum and cola, canadian (yeah, yeah, they got something right) whiskey and cola, vodka and energy drink, vodka and cranberry, beer, etc. :-)

Much beyond that, like the list, just gets me confused :-)

I don't. I prefer to argue with somebody with a brain.

My dad drank Manhattans. I drink Manhattans. You don't like it? Burn in Hell.

chuckles at the whole thread.

For many different reasons.

:-)

Having testosterone doesn't make you manly, neither does a cocktail, the glassware it is served in, (within reason, of course), or your profession.

That being said, I think the main list is amusing, having mixed and served my share of cocktails, (those that get their wrinklies all tightened up can supplant the word drink if they feel the fortitude) for a living, albeit many years ago.

BTW, in my opinion, I call BS on 11, 8, 7, and 5. Not classic cocktails, either marketed to heathens like Tom :-), or annoying frat boys. I might give #5 a pass if it's really good orange soda. :-)

Google "Manhattan drink"

You see 18 images .... 15 are of the glass you say they are not served in ... two are of an old fashioned glass.
