You must never have had the skull and bones daisy cutter, original release mystery, or the zombie. Or the exclusivo lancero. I can't say much about their regular production stuff.

RomaCraft - definitely way under hyped and a delicious smoke
Ghurka - overhyped - meh just meh and seriously how many new smokes can you have that all just are meh at best.
(buddy of mine just raved and raved about Ghurk) then one day snooped in my locker and grabbed a "knuckle dragger" and asked what's this plain little thing? That's 3.5 inches of stfu and have a real smoke I replied! We just split a box purchase of cranium lol!

Under: inexpensive B&M house blends

Pretty sure I have had all of the above (Or most) and was super excited about them when I lit up and afterward was super dissapointed as I could smoke similar profiles at a fraction of the price and not HTF stuff.
I look at this stuff now and just roll my eyes... But if YOU like it, smoke it!
Most dissapointing cigar I can recall was the Holiday Blend. Smoked it on Christmas a couple years ago and was like WTF. Oh and a Liga Privada T52 Pig I smoked about a month ago. I know my palate has changed over the last couple years but I couldn't even smoke the T52 pig to the half way point, yuck. Tasted like a deer terd that fell into a Floridian swamp.

Agree with you on the T52. I've had a couple (corona doble, and a pig), didn't really care for either.
The Mystery was freaking EXCELLENT the following summer after it was released. The pepper had toned WAY down, and there was this awesome, woody cinnamon flavor that I haven't tasted in another cigar.
I still have 3 or so Daisy Cutters, haven't smoked one in a grip, but again, with some time they were amazing. I'm not a fan of S&B ROTT.

Over - Ghurka is the easy answer. Other than that it would have to be Tatuaje. I haven't exactly been blown away by the ccs I've had, but with so many cc devotees there has to be something to them other than hype right? Maybe?
Under - Hard to say, maybe I don't get out enough but I haven't seen a lot of hype except for few specific brands, which would make everything else under hyped in comparison.

100% agree, biggest disappointment in a cigar I have had in years.... for the price they are and at least in my area unable to find I rarely ever pick up any of Andre's sticks they just don't float my boat... at all... like ever...

Overhyped: limited edition cigars, especially one-runs. You hear me Andre' and Pete? It got old 5 years ago..
Underhyped: Tabacalera Tropical/Casa Fernandez

Over - every cigar I don't like.
Under - every cigar I like.
Or maybe it's the other way around, I forget.

Over - Drew Estate. Particularly the Liga Privadas. Cigar Aficionado just named them the "hottest cigar" of 2013.
Under - Lots to choose from here, but I will go with... Nica Libre. Very reasonably priced, and I have enjoyed everyone one that I have ever smoked.

I haven't tried the full line but I think Tatuaje is a bit over-hyped. Not a bad smoke by any stretch, just not mind blowing. Also, I'm throwing Foundry out there. It's rare I strongly dislike a cigar but these were plain out nasty.
Underrated... hmm, I might throw Illusione out there as I don't see a lot of marketing hype out there for the line.

Lord if this is not the truth. In particular Andre IMO. Sorry, not chasing these down anymore when there are plenty of other options readily available.

Over; Liga Privada ( I fully understand that most of it is due to how great a person JD is, but this is about the cigars)
Under; Roma Craft, Curivari, Illusione.

Over - Another vote for maduros (with clarification regarding the palette destroying powerhouses that seem to wash away any level of complexity to a stick)
Under - Curivari cigars

Ha ha There was a similar thread awhile back and people were shocked and amazed that I said Drew Estates were overhyped! Oh how times have changed.
Overhyped: Tatuaje, Drew Estates, and Gurkha
Underhyped: Oliva (except Nubs) and Joya de Nicaragua

I think you are right about in particular Andre'. It is getting harder and harder to chase 'em down because retailers are dropping them. The thing is his 3 core line sticks don't sell and the stores have to by them to get the LEs - they end up taking a loss on the cores in order to stock the LEs.. The core lines are a decent cigar... for half their price. There are many great cigars (Casa Fernandez) which also rolled at Fabrica de Tabacos Raices Cubana that cost less and are easy to find. Good consistent core lines vs a hard to find LE is a no brainer for me.
At the same time, Andre isn't asking people to pay to join some club to get the privilege to buy LEs either. Pete, I'll smoke dog rockets before that ever happens. Thank goodness Pete has some really swell core lines; Ill grab the petit cazadore over the limited release and know its going to be a great smoke. Speaking of Raices, Ernesto Padilla has some good cigars coming out of there as well, the Artemis is another underrated cigar.
On a side note, thanks to all of the high recommendations for Roma Craft; I went online and found that there is a retailer that will be a 30 minute drive from my work. I'll be taking a long lunch next week to grab some..
:-)
