The only problem I can forsee, is that the carver is in Europe which would give us very little control in the way of problems or whatever, and shipping from Europe...also, iirc, I've seen a picture of a Mario Grandi that was done for a club or forum, and I don't think he embosses the name of the organization in the wood of the shank, but paints it on...wouldn't we be better off with an American carver? I'm sure there are several that would work with us...

there are plenty of great carvers in the US, but most can't do a nice sized pipe with good quality for <100 bucks

Personally, I would prefer a tinsky or something along those lines for 150-200 as this will likely be the only pipe I buy this year, but most don't want to pay that much (understandably)

I would love to do a higher end pipe as it will be my only pipe this year too..

if you guys want to keep it american, here's Tinsky's page with his normal shapes and prices per finish. http://ssl.cybersun.com/scripts/webc...57757~1~103002

so we could try to just do one of his shapes and you could pick your own finish or something along those lines. I really like the bulldog on the first page

just an idea

edit - I like the canadian too

Some decent shapes there. #11 looks cool as does #3. I'd be willing to bet if we ordered enough pipes, there might be a chance to get a discount.

Kirk Bosi could probably get it done for a shade under 200 as well, he did a nice pipe for IPC a couple years ago

I donīt think I'll be interested, but consider this pipe carver, from South Africa:
