Not only is it a very good show but seeing Buscemi playing a more thoughtful, understated character is exciting as I always thought he had a better range than was portrayed in is former roles.

Did anyone notice Omar from "The Wire" waiting to see Buscemi close to the beginning of the episode?

Yes. I saw him sitting there, said "Omar walking" - my wife gave me a very strange look until I explained.

Somewhere I have an old theater program from about 1920 that has a full-page ad for Colosimo's restaurant on the back. The featured performer is the girl Colosomo ditched his wife for--an act that, it's been said, contributed to his getting whacked by Capone.

Sounds like "Big Jim" Colosimo...see my prior comment.
Colosimo was a major early Outfit boss in pre-Prohibition Chicago...about 1920-21 he dumped his longtime (Italian) wife for a young (non-Italian) singer at his restaurant, which outraged many in the Chicago underworld and opened up an opportunity for his longtime second-in-command, Johnny Torrio, to remove him and take his place.
To do the job, Torrio brought in a young man from Five Points, Brooklyn...named Alphonse Capone.

I think they were introduced to set up the ending of episode 2 which is the cliffhanger part for episoe 3.

:-) Yep, there's a difference of opinion on how many guys were killed in the road. Now we know why.

I thought the second episode was a bit slow. I was hoping for more action, but maybe this set things up for the next few episodes and things can start happening.

I think this might be a one season show, since it is loosely following history and might be wrapped up in one season. I can't see Scorsese doing TV long term.
