Then I was then offered a rather large promotion. That doesn't happen every day. It would be a CONSIDERABLE change in income. I am in a daze.
Congrats , you earned it. Enjoy your change in life. Don't forget where you started and who was there on the way up.

Not yet, you can't just accept things like that. It's kind of like calling a girl right after you get her phone #, you appear to anxious. What's that phrase again?? Oh yes.......

"Desperation is the world's worst cologne"

Instead of doing everything, I would have 2 full time guys under me, I'd write their appraisels etc. Or so the offer goes. The pay bump is pretty much set in stone for amounts, being govt' work and all. I have been doing this sort of work for a while so I am confident I can do it but still there's a fair amount of responsibility involved with it too.

A word of advice - If you haven't been a manager before, do not underestimate the responsibility and headaches that go along with having direct reports.

Many thanks to all that said congrats and as you may have guessed I said yes. It's hard to pass up that much scratch and more flexibility too. I guess now I'll actually have to get something done. :-)

Celebratory Cigar Suggestions?? I have a forbidden X 2005 (not sure about the year) just resting.
