You can't tell from the picture but the bottle had plenty of plume on it and the foam is from the boiling.
It's never plume... always mold

I recently had that beer as well, loved it. Do you think it could be the stock beer used to make BCS? Seems logical, especially after having it to me.

I am far from a connoisseur, but I've been enjoying a Sierra Nevada Kellerweis Hefeweizen lately when I smoke.

I'm liking it so far. The lemon is there but it's not too much, for me it works nicely with the pine-y hops. Some nice malty sweetness underneath (as one kind of expects in a hoppy DFH.) Not too boozy. I'm not sure I'd rather pay $4 more for it than for a Squall, but it's pretty good.

Hey Gary, I didn't know that Blind Pig was still being brewed. Is it still being made down in Temecula? Bottled or just draft and distributed to bars/restaurants?

I had a bottle this weekend at Funky Buddha Lounge ( and brewery - top American Porter on BA right now, with their Bacon Maple Coffee Porter) in Boca at their comedy night, the first glass was good. But the second, maybe got too warm (and I like warm beer in general) for itself and got a little funky/weird with the lemon. But overall a good beer that I really enjoyed the first 'pint' of, 750mL was too much for this sissy though. :-)

.......or maybe it was the hookah smoke in the place affecting my taste buds....:-) It's a funny place, they allow hookah smoking inside but nothing (cigar or cigarette) else, I have not tried hookah yet but I am curious.

Mark,

Blind Pig became Russian River. Brewers of Pliny the Elder ( & Younger on tap ). Also still brewing Blind Pig and other tasty, slightly hard to find beers. Up in Santa Rosa. :-)

Yesterday I enjoyed some Stone Ruination IPA. Very good.

Okay, so I took one for the team here, fellas, and had one of these over the weekend

I'm a fan of extreme brewing, but leave it to some enterprising Masshole brewmaster at Harpoon to decide that oysters would be a good addition to the grain bill :-)

However, I have to say that it was a very good stout. Smokey & salty on the finish, but lots of nice roasted coffee and dark chocolate tones. Had a little twang, which might be the "mineral" character mentioned on the label. Surprisingly, this is the second year of production for this small batch brew. Missed it the first time around.
