My wife picked these up for me while visiting her mom over the weekend. I've read about the Caskmates but never seen a bottle around here. I'll be pouring a glass to try it out in a little bit.

Picked this up at of all places the base liquor store. They don't really have that wide of a selection, then all of a sudden they've got this, a bunch of Bowmore, Auchentoshan, Dalmore, and a few others. But I've never had this particular offering from Suntory, so I'll be cracking it open tonight to see how it is.

You're not kidding, this stuff is great. Any fan of lightly-peated Scotch would enjoy this. Even that wanker that was here for about two weeks earlier this year before getting banned for being such a putz would like it, although you'd have to hold him down and force it down his throat; there's no other way he'd allow his palette to be profaned by the presence of a mere blended whisky.

Yesterday I had a Southern Tier 2XMas ale. The addition of figs & orange peel was a nice complement to the traditional Christmas spices.

For a 14% RIS, it really wasn't. The flavors were excellent. Could really taste the bourbon. I was pleasantly surprised.
I like that Southern Tier 2XMas. I try to get a sixer of it every season.
