Sounds like a fun time Dave. How’s the Frey Ranch?

I really enjoyed Frey Ranch Barrel Selection Rye. To me it’s my favorite of the whisky’s and bourbons they sell. I like all of their offerings but the rye just tingles my palate the best.
We did drink them right to left and the Stagg was by far my favorite. My palate was completely adjusted to the zing of the Stagg after some high proof earlier samples haha.

Cool looking tasting, Dave.
:-)
Usually hit the liquor stores for Wednesday drops, but had some time today so I hit three stores, including Binny's.
First was an independent I probably haven't hit in a year. They had my favorite Barrel (batch 28) from several years ago at original retail. Snagged that.
Next was Sal's. They had a 1792 Full Proof single barrel pick, I'm hoping it's better than the Old Forester Barrel Strength pick I got there last year.
Finally walked in to Binny's. General manager sees me and says one of my contacts put a bottle aside for me. Stagg 24D at $59. I can't have two?

Nice pours all around!
I was on my local base today checking the liquor store. They're having a Blanton's release on the 6th. Show up at 1500, get a ticket. Drawing at 1530, winners get to buy a bottle. I'm not a patient person and will not be going. I'll just enjoy the OF 1920 Prohibition I grabbed while there (first time seeing it on base). OF is hit/miss with me, but I really like this one.

Crazy to think Stagg Jr is cheaper (msrp) than Blantons. Nice pick ups Tom.
James, I’m with you on Blantons. I’ve had my share the last couple of years, and while it’s a good bourbon, it’s not worth the price anymore. Green River Full Proof for $50 all day over Blantons. Enjoy the OF 1920.

I am so jealous. First finding a bottle of Stagg. Second at that price!!!! Ssooooo it’s in the $220 range here on the Left Coast if you can even find it. Sigh. Too many people like good bourbons and whisky.

Nice pickup on the OF, James. I agree that the Blanton's isn't worth being patient for.
:-)
Dave, the secondary on Stagg has dropped to about $140-150 here. Finding it at retail is a blessing.

I don't know if any of y'all are familiar with the "Irish People Try" Youtube channel, but
they're trying Elijah Craig Bourbon and Rye. Watching the video made me realize that outside of an Old Fashioned in a steak house, I've never had regular ol' Elijah Craig, just many bottles of the BP. I might have to grab a bottle of it and the Rye to try out.

We were on base today so I grabbed a bottle of the EC 94 to try. Thanks, Irish People!!!
:-) They also had Dickel 8 on sale and with a free hat. It's a decent, inexpensive pour so I'll grab it on sale any time.

Curious to see what you think of EC 94 after all your experience with ECBP, James.

Bought some New Riff 8. I like this quite a bit more than the regular New Riff.

Met up with a liquor rep friend last night. He brought a bottle of Angel's Evny Rye Cask Strength from 2023. It was 114 proof. He claimed to have brought it for "market research". It was a good pour. No sharp after bite, but had a very long finish. Lots of vanilla and sweet fruit, but the last sips from the pour tasted like chocolate cake. It was really nice to try (we put down half a bottle between three of us), but the price is a bit more than I care for at $240 MSRP.

That pour would fit right into my budget, Tony. The bottle, not so much.

Sounds yummy. Price is a little ambitious.

Saw it yesterday for $249 at one of the local stores. Not a finished whisky guy, so an easy pass for me.

Tried Blanton SFTB while out last night. It’s ok, but don’t think it’s something I’ll be on the hunt for.
