Wine, Beer, and Spirits>The Bourbon Thread!!

Yea, I was kinda chaffed when I saw the prices. I’m ok with a little markup, but some of the rarer bottles were up there. I paid $150 for this bottle. Overpriced, sure. But the cheapest I’ve seen it and was in my budget and on my hit list.

Tried it last night. Well worth it.

My personal top 3 were C919 B519 and A120, the group as a whole preferred A119 C919 then A120

Nice pick up!

I have not been lucky to get any of the Batch 24 series from my regular stores, but I have have tastes from 24A and 24B. I like 24B a lot.

Glad it's worth the price, Bob! I love me some Stagg.

Thanks Ben!

I had B520 and C919 as my faves. I've never had A120, looks like I will be "hunting". :-)

B520 was an interesting one, we did a poll before asking what everybody thought the best would be and B520 was up there with what people remembered as their favorites, but after trying it blind it ranked 13 out of 16. Sweet oak but not as much complexity as the others. The brackets were randomized so nobody had it facing the same matchup as anybody else and everybody still thought it was in the bottom

Stopped by my local store to see if anything was left after their raffle. Wanted the Weller 107, but there’s still two people who need to pick their bottles. There’s only the one 107, so that wasn’t available yet. But…

Watching The Mash and Drum review the new ECBP A125. Interesting. 10yr, 7mos, 118 proof. Tom, you might really like this. Says it gives him a Bookers vibe.

I try to give each ECBP batch a try, and this one sounds intriguing even without the Booker's nod, Bob.

The proof will be in the taste though, the C923 was 13 years + and 133 proof, but I thought it was way overhyped. Selling for $150+, after having one bottle at retail I passed on any more.

I haven't tried the last few, I do love ECBP but really wish I had a nice tasting bar where I could give releases like those a try first. Too many ~$100 bottles coming out makes me not want to buy any of them

Had a friend looking to rehome an old bottle of Kentucky Owl Rye, which I've had my eye on for a while. Yadda yadda yadda I made it two whole weeks into the year without buying any whiskey :-)

I get that Ben. I think the last ECBP I grabbed was A124. And you made it longer than I did with buying.

Agreed, Ben, and not just for ECBP but for lots of releases. We have a liquor store with a bar kind of like that, it's saved me a few bucks more than once. :-)

Before COVID, Party Source had a "tasting library". Most anything they had an open bottle of, you could get a splash. Never brought back the concept, that was a combination of stupid, short sighted, and greedy.
