Wine, Beer, and Spirits>The Bourbon Thread!!

Out running errands, decided to stop by one local store I don’t check that often. Night need to stop by more. Redwood Empire Pipe Dream and a Bookers 22-02 (lumberyard batch). Yes please. Then hit up my regular store and the had Little Book Chapter 8. So much for not buying much anymore.

Ok, I’ve had a pour of each, still working on the LB. The Pipe Dream is good, if a bit hot. The Lumberyard is a good representation of Bookers. But the LB. Wow! Totally unique because of the high rye. Floral, citrus. Nothing like I’ve had before. :-)

Very cool finding a '22 Booker's, Bob. I posted in a Booker's group on FB when I found some '16s on a shelf, and some guy starts calling me a liar and demanding I post a receipt. Yeah, Homie don't play those games, F***nuts. :-)

I think Garfield's has an open bottle on LB 8, I am going to have to try a pour.

If you’re a rye fan, you should like the LB8. But trying before you buy would be a good idea. It’s nothing like what I expected.

Had another pour of the Lumberyard Batch. Damn good stuff. Wasn’t sure I already had this bottle when I bought it. Turns out I have the 22-01 batch.

There was a time when I was really into ryes, Bob, but that eventually evolved into high proof bourbon. The only rye I really drink now is Whistlepig single barrel picks (still have quite a few). But it's by Freddie Noe so I'll give it a try. Wish I could get my hands on some Booker's Rye. :-)

I like Lumberyard better than Robbie's as I recall. Neither were standouts but both are solid.

A few half decent pours between Peter Jeff and myself on Friday, between the three of us we managed to fill up the table :-)

Quite a STAGG-ering display of whiskey, Ben. I see you have a BTAC bottle HANDY. Lots of choices, WILLET be enough? :-)

Was inspired by a FB post to open a bottle of Booker's Shiny Barrel (2019-02). A great backstory to the name: Bunch of fat guys sampling bourbon rubbing the dust off the barrels with their huge bellies and that is how you know where the good barrels are.

It is my least favorite of the 4 2019 batches. That being said, it's better than all but a couple batches that have come out since 2019. :-)

Clever and funny. Nice word play. Colonel Taylor would handily approve the use of staggering your word play. Blanton would be sad for no recognition.

Russell sadly wouldn’t comment on the situation. :-)

Russell took the high ground being front and near center. Russel is likely older and wiser than the others but hard to say for certain. Some treasures in that line up.

My challenge would be what to try first????

Had some of Hugh's wonderful hazmat ECBP, then killed a Booker's Off Your Rocker. Hooray for backups!

140.2? Wow, I've never had ECBP over 137...and it was incredibly smooth for such a high octane Bourbon.

I've found several of the high proof ECBPs to be like that, James. C919 and A120 come right to mind.

Last night's post-Thanksgiving dinner pours. My BIL brought the Taylor. He won it earlier this year in a raffle at his HS reunion for $20. So damned smooth and tasty. The Booker's is good; the peanut funk is not as pronounced as the last Booker's I had (which was a few years ago), but is still there.

EH Taylor makes one even more thankful at Thanksgiving, James. :-)
