I probably should wait to post until I have all the details (like which school the scholarship is for), but I can't contain my excitement for him.

His ultimate goal is to earn an appointment to the Naval Academy, but this is a tremendous fall-back opportunity for him if he doesn't get into Annapolis.
Congrats. If i recall, for the Navy ROTC scholarship you apply directly and it is no school specific.

He actually had to submit a list of 4-5 candidate schools. Each has to have a Naval ROTC unit attached to it. The Navy then not only awards the scholarship, but it also specifies the actual school. In Tony's case, he had chosen several engineering schools, and the Navy awarded him the scholarship with the caveat he use it to attend Worcester Polytech in Worcester, MA.

As I mentioned previously, he's still hoping to get a nomination to Annapolis, but in the event he doesn't, it looks like I'll have a on-call herf gopher available. :-)
