General Discussion>You want fries with that?

I'd work at a BBQ joint but, I wouldn't be able to work as many hours with them. Mcdonalds is 24 hours and I imagine I'll be working late several nights.

And yes, it's the one where Kmart used to be. It's a sears outlet now.

As long as you stay in School where you work shouldn't matter...its the end that counts not the means of how you got there...good luck with school and can I change that coke to a strawberry shake?:-)

Don't sell the experience short. I also worked a a burger joint when in college. That led to my first management job which was a nice plus on my resume when I graduated.

I respect people who work jobs they don't like 1000 times more than those who sit back and live off of the sweat of others.

Yeah, but gas was a buck fifty a gallon, Todd. :-) :-)

If it pays bills and is above board where the money comes from is moot. You do what you gotta do and anyone who judges you has issues, just my .10 hang in there. It'll get better!

I have an uncle that was out of work for 10+ years. Everyone always used to criticise him for not doing anything. You are working and having a job and doing it well (no matter what it is) is something to be proud of.

For the record...I worked as Santa Claus in Williamsville, NY one year because I was broke. So I feel your pain :-)

I became quickly known as the "Southern Santa"

You'll never see fast food again. I worked 5 years at a grocery store. Grocery shopping is not the same for me. It's a unique experience.

I was going to act all hurt here, but then I figured I should do some investigating. According to a couple sites, it was between $.48 & $.62 a gallon in 1978 when I got my license. And minimum wage was $2.65.

When I went to college minimum wage was $3.10 and a gallon of gas was $1.25. And inflation was 13.5%.

I can remember $0.29 a gallon and if you went towards Daytona Beach on 95 you could see the gas wars for $0.19.

That's all right. Blake will be telling his grand kids he remembers working in MickyD's when his happy meal wasn't $15 and it still had a real toy in it.....:-)

I remember that, I just meant currently.....everyone knows the stupid questions you get asked at the drive thru. I remember a friend of mine had a guy ask for chicken tenders "heavy all". So my friend added lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and poured mayo all over them. That is "heavy all" :-)

I remember when I was like 8-10 and saw gas priced at like .85 cents a gallon. Must have been nice. I also remember a few years ago when it was 4.50 a gallon.

I'm not complaining. They offered me the opportunity to go to some of their management courses later down the road (not far down the road actually). I imagine being a part time manager at mcdonalds would be a good learning experience if anything.
