I use a zebra 2-d barcode printer and generate stickers with all of the relevant information, then use a symbol mobile pda scanner to track them.
I'll be upgrading to 2-way RFID tags soon. Can't wait for that beeper feature!

Most cigars, no. If I can't remember when I got them, they're ready to smoke. :-)

Thanks to everyone for their input... I never thought of putting a username with a gifted cigar.

I love this idea, however I have a Blackberry instead. Has anyone seen an app like this for Blackberry; I have not found one in a search yet.

I went to the store and got little sticky dots, put date on those and stick to the celo.

Back when I used to buy a ton of Connies, I'd put Avery dots on the bundles so as to grab the oldest first, letting the others age. Once I upgraded, I stopped this practice, as I bought monthly supplies instead. When I go back to bundles - and with personal finances as they are, this could be soon - I'll likely date my Connies again.

Sharpie on the cello. If no cello, with a fine Sharpie, I'll write the month and year on the cap of the cigar.

I use the mobile stogie app for all, but I also tape a purchase month on the "hard to find" Fuentes in the collection.

Moe's right, Ben, you're a dork.
You should be using an Excel spreadsheet, like me!
:-) Not only do I track age & source (trade, bomb, purchase,) but also wrapper/blend, country of origin, vitola, and I have a separate worksheet to log my own reviews, and another worksheet with addresses. Now that's uber-geek dorkiness, right there, my friend. Glad I married a smokin' hot wife before she figured that out.
