Apparently mortars go off there very frequently.

Weird tangent, but I wonder what the SEALS used to hit those guys?

I would imagine it was the Barrett M107, .50 BMG.

There's still 230 hostages in Somalia that do not have the US Navy Seals to help them out. I hope their fate is not sealed due to our actions. I am glad were able to show our stuff to the world watching under a new president. He certainly faired better than Carter and Clinton under similar circumstances when they were president.

The world needs to get on the same page and figure out how to deal with these pirates as if affects everyone.

Way to send those 3 pirates to their maker. Whose next? Time to take them all out.

In a recent conversation on a gun forum, there was a question posed to a Marine asking what he felt when he shot a terrorist.

He shrugged his shoulders and replied, "recoil?"

At that point, I realized I have missed my life's calling and am now too old to correct that oversight.

One saving grace is the castle doctrine here in Florida which allows intruders to be shot and assumed to be a deadly threat.

I suppose a history class might have prevented this situation from its inception if the Pirates simply understood the phrase "From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli."
Yes, I know the shooters were Navy Seals, not Marines, but the sentiment, and the continent is the same.

Apparently plans are in motion as we speak and Mr. Obama has already delivered a speech about our stand against pirating.

First thing I thought of.

I have heard two different distances reported 20-30 meters and 100 meters. A.308 would would just fine at those ranges. I read they took head and shoulders shots.

:-)

At those ranges I think I could make the shots with an M16A2, however with the boat rocking it might be a little trickier, but an M4 with a scope would probably fix that problem too. Don't know if they necessarily used a sniper rifle for this, and if they did, I'm fairly sure it wasn't a .50 cal, as those rip people apart at distances over half a mile, can't imagine what they'd do at 100m.

Glad we finally took some action here. I was on the phone talking to my grandma and she was wondering why we haven't sent in a SEAL team to take care of the problem. I thought to myself that we probably had, but we just weren't allowed to know about it yet... Anyway I talked to her for about 30 minutes and checked the news, and I let her know what happened. I felt good about it.

As far as the military getting involved with the situation, I support it, we shouldn't have to deal with problems like this, nor should any other country. I say we take out the problem. Hell, if we're going someone put me on a plane (I'll set up communication...) and if need be I'll use a weapon.

About time they smoked those pirates. They should have done that to Bin Laden a long time ago. Why wait? :-)

they parascheted in and took up position on the back of the boat. Moved in when There was an obvious threat. the 4th pirate who didnt die actually didnt want to go back to the life boat after he recieved medical attention from the navy and was working with them to try to help.
