General Discussion>People never cease to amaze me

I can't change who I am overnight as much as may think I may want to. As such, there are more "Carlos helping out neighbors" events to come. I genuinely enjoy it as they are projects to me that challenge me. I just won't trip over the same rock.:-)

BTW, this place and all the generous people that are part of it consoles me when I lose faith in the world. The world is full of plenty of good people. Unfortunately, there are plenty of not so good also that taint the good ones by leaving a bad taste.

That said, I don't think I could have picked a better title for the thread as people will never cease to amaze me. That goes for the bad as much as it goes for the good.
Well said my friend.

What type of world would we live in if we ALL acted like you.

:-):-)

Maybe you should trim their bushes in the shapes of organs....they'd probably stop asking for you help:-)

I deal with the general public daily and I think its higher that 97.2%. It truly amazes me that people feel they are entitled to or its their right to "fill in the blank". Not to thread jack but last week we were at a customers house, a seemingly intelligent man and woman, and listened to them spout on the whole time we were there how they cant wait for "this president and his congress" to make things right. They used phrases like" fixing the rich", "redistributing everyone's money" and the one that made me puke a little in my mouth "its everyone's right to have as much money as the rich". They argued with the $1500 bill claiming a $6 dollar item on it was suppose to be free :-)

I feel your pain :-)

If he hasn't paid you by the time I come down for the snkbyt Herf, I will dig it up and hand it to him in 40 pieces, Carlos. :-)

You are a good man, and nobody can take that away from you....your Mother and Father raised a good man.

Carlos, hearing stories like this really bothers me. Reminds me of a similar situation with our neighbor and my father. He should be kissing your A$$ for helping him.

Honestly Carlos the karmic payback to you is probably all backed up for all the good you do. It will come your way, as it will for the inconsiderate neighbor. I know I don't need to say this, but keep doing all the good you do. :-)

People are incredible:-)

Reading this hole story, now I know why I live downtown in the city in a condo. My neigbourgh is 10 feet from me and I don`t even know what he looks like.

You should go back to him take the material you bought and take it back to Home Depot and get a refund, then charge as a consultant 150$hr to repair his system:-)

I too have been down this road and with the exception of a few I no longer offer my services. I was the neighborhood go to guy, Mr. Fix-it so to speak. But as more and more requests were made, fewer slaps on the backs and Thanks were being given in return, as if it was expected. I now find I have more time to relax and smoke my 'gars. :-)

Sorry - didn't mean to thread jack...

I used to get tired by the same thing all the time, Carlos.
I'd get just as upset as you, too, if not moreso.
I just changed my angle. I do whatever I can whenever I can for anyone I can. I just do it because I can and don't want or expect anything in return. I consider it a gift.
That way, no matter what happens, I'm not going to get upset.
I'm rewarded every day by the help of others, and the Grace of God.
Turns out I'm WAY ahead of the game, and I need to give a lot more back.
So I just keep on trying. :-)

The guy is a puto, pure and simple. But, I'm optimistic that more people than not are grateful for your- or anyone's- help.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38
