Well I had a Dirty Rat last night, I think it was courtesy of Lear31MX a year or so ago.
I was pretty shocked. Before I go on, I know this is not a DR thread, but I expected
to hate it. The first 1/4 inch made me think, 'damn, another hyped up NC cigar that
tastes the same as every other dark, strong, famous smoke. Boy when that thing
opened up it was 'Katy bar the door'. I had no idea what I was tasting but it was a
damn fine array of unique flavors. I wish Big Brother hadn't started and forced me
inside where I had to let it go, but it was damaged anyway, so I justified it that way.

I am going to make a blog entry because I was impressed. DID NOT expect to be.
Must be the cuban wrappers I hear they are using. Everyone basically knows this. :-) :-)

Called in a few days prior. They told me if there were any left after the event that they would call me. Someone who was there told me they were gone when they got there an hour and a half into the event.

So went to the sale event at Coronas today and then sat down to enjoy one of them. This was a great smoke straight out of the shelf. Great smoke and well worth it

Thanks for the pics! As a huge fan of DE's Liga Line, these are something that without a doubt will make it into my humi! I am curious to know if they taste similar to the dirty rat or if they are different? Anyone care to elaborate?

I still have two original rats left, but my buddy told me yesterday as we were smoking the new versions were a lot better smoother and less peppery. Essentially less in your face

Does anybody know of any L.A. based B&M's that were part of the distribution list for the Ratzillas? Looking to pick up 3; 1 to smoke and the other 2 to sit

They are obviously pretty similar, but the Ratzilla is a slightly more mellow and well balanced. I thought it was a great cigar and I would rather smoke those than the Rats.

Is this just DE evolving his line of LP cigars.

Seems he has a TON of new stuff every year that is somewhat similar to cigars of previous years.

Like FFP's..........These have had a few different names and sizes while staying somewhat the same.

Dirty rat to the ratzilla.

Is he just trying to change his cigars to meet the feedback of what people are saying about the current line of LP cigars or is he just making new and different things all the time.

Kind of hard to follow the LP line, seems all the cigars are changing every year or so into something else.

Smitty.

Sorry for the confusion. We are almost finished with a Liga Privada Reference Guide that should really help you lock down real releases from little goofy things we do.

For example, here is the history of RATZILLA.

2010/2011 - we rolled a few hundred each of the following sizes 6x44, 6x46, 7x44, and 7x46. We ultimately went with the 6.5x46, but after we rolled up about 6,000 Class A sticks, we held back on production. These cigars were rolled in November and December 2011 - and were never truly released. Recently, we sold them as the story goes above. The 50 bundles at Casa de Montecristo was hardly a release for us, just something fun. The balance of the sticks, including the 100 bundles of 12 that we sold to Corona Cigar Company, again, was not a true release.

There have been many other little batch things that we have done, including UF4, UF13, and all sorts of things. Gets confusing so I recommend the Free Drew Estate APP for iPhone and iPad and Droid. It has a nice listing for this, and has a store finder for Liga.

Should help.
Best,
JD
