Wine, Beer, and Spirits>What's your favorite mix for a Black and Tan?
tnip23 05:54 PM 10-19-2008
harp and guinness is a half and half. a black and tan is either guinness and bass or guinness and "smiddicks" I prefer the bass as it has some hops to it as opposed to smithwicks which is just malty.

I used to make them with Harp or Bass under Guinness and now I use Smithwicks on the bottom . However though I will be getting some Boddingtons to try this out with Guinness as both come in pints . Bass would probably be the the original as I have a brass Bass brolly for pouring the Black and Tans with . Bass Ale is embossed right in the brolly and it was free over the internet a while back .:-)

I haven't had a real B&T in far too long. Occasionally I like them with a shot of Jameson as an "appetizer" :-)

Yup....just pronounce it "Smith-wicks" in Ireland, and you might get tossed out of the pub. :-) :-)

"Wood-a-bridge" with the emphasis on "bridge"

I usually prefer a Black and Red.... Guinness and Indian Head Red.

Or sometimes with Killian's in a pinch.

In Ireland they pronounce it "Smitticks" or "Smiddicks".....no "T-H" at all.

This may be a little un-PC, but is anyone a fan of the Irish Car Bomb?

That's not a bad idea, although I'd need to go out to do it. It's not the same with Guinness from a can.
