Here in the PNW, it's called Pop. Us natives use it as a code word to differentiate us from Californians (like my Soda drinking wife).

Growing up the in the 50's and 60's we'd just call it by the generic term,,,,coke. There wasn't the grocery store lineup like there is now with a bazillion name brands of soft drinks. When we were asked, " Do you want a coke" it was either Coke or Pepsi, that's all there was. If you wanted root beer you went to the A&W drive up. Ahhh, the golden days when things were simple.

Hey now... There was a third player back then - RC. Mom used to buy that as it was cheaper than Coke or Pepsi, I still prefer it. But as we was poor, usually it was cool-aid out of the "icebox". Had to leave the Sought to learn what a fridge was.
