Don't get you panties in a bunch, I was calling myself a snob. I'm also an asshole too (admitting it is half the battle).
But I will never consider anything that needs pencil drawings to tell the story a novel.
Still there is an audience for everything, how else could professional wrestling still be making millions?

I think Superman and the Ultimate Warrior have been brought back from the dead the same number of times.

You are funny. Your communications style indicates that you either did not pay attention to your studies or failed to absorb lessons from your readings.
You may wish to investigate the influence on culture and modern literature that is the legacy of the comic book, graphic novel, etc. Whoever granted you your degree was remiss in this area.
I'm headed back to reading about quantum mechanics and m-theory. The book has pictures and diagrams, so I must be a moron for reading that tripe.

It isn't a textbook, it is a
novel and while it mentions superman and has a drawing of a car that could be Speed Racer, it doesn't have The Green Lantern. Sorry to disappoint.

As long as this didn't take place within the Star Wars universe, it doesn't bother me!Image
BTW: I am dyslexic and struggled through elementary school. Marvel and DC comics helped me discover the enjoyment of reading. I am the only person in my family to graduate from college. I now work in higher education.

Don't worry, I have become a cigar snob too since joining CA.
As for the movie industry, I'd say they know their target audience pretty well (it just isn't me anymore).
I was an English Lit major in school and we studied graphic novels in some of my courses.
As far as the Superman issue goes, it's not as big an issue as everyone's making it out to be.
He renounced his citizenship to stop Iran from declaring war on the US. I'm willing to bet Clark Kent didn't renounce his citizenship.
I know that we all grew up with Superman fighting for truth, justice, and the AMERICAN WAY, but he's a global icon and those of us morons who still read comics and graphic novels know that he saves the world (and the universe on occasion) many times over, not just the US.

It's a shame he's not taking on more projects these days. All the good parts go to hacks like DiCaprio and Penn.

Nope, all the parts now are written for Ryan Reynolds or Bradley Cooper.

I remember when everyone in the world wanted to come to America and become the people they dreamed of being.

I am a comic book hero.
