Those early cigars were fantastic. Raw and fresh. I remember talking to a cigar shop owner in Florida in the early 90's. I was buying some boxes and he said "Kid, you can stick these under your bed for 6 months and they'll taste the same as they do now." I really miss those cigars.

My favorite now is the Soberano in maduro.

I don't think what you looked up are the same cigars to which he was referring to.

Those are them. My mistake.

I edited out your link to the pic since the pic is from a vendor of CCs.

FWIW - that pic is very misleading. The Cuban LGC MdO cigars do not have wrappers that are anywhere close to very dark or black.

They are pretty dark in comparison to average "the norm" cc wrappers, though. Would you concede to that? I always thought they were pretty dark, comparitively. Good, too. :-)

To be honest, Scott. I would disagree. Most of the LGC wrappers I have seen have been comparatively light. But I am by no means an expert.

Bought a box of LGC Reserva Figurados. I've only smoked one but the first was remarkable for the nuclear pepper blast at the start, certainly the strongest pepper I've ever tasted, which toned down into strong pepper after the first inch. Also the highest nicotine cigar so far in my return to cigars last October, and I liked that. Great flavor with only a few deep notes, predominantly mid and high-level. I got the box for $95.00, and it was a great buy at that price. Recommended if you like peppery strength.

Serie R Maduro mini belicoso is my favorite cigar and has been for some time.

Now I'm at work and all I can do is dream of having one and the time to enjoy it

Far and away MdO #3 are my favorite.

They're not dark at all, a nice light-brown color.

I feel the Reserva Figurado Las Flechas is an awesome cigar. It has everything, power, taste, complexity, balance and I would even say, grace, not that I can justify the last word, not that saying it makes it conclusive. A preponderance of medium and high notes but with the low sufficiently represented. I got a box of 20 for $96.00, a real steal, I think.

I smoked an R but am feeling that the dark, rich maduros aren't for me. Not enough complexity. I felt that way about the Camacho Blackout, an expensive, fully aged blend.
Wrapper, binder and filler are aged before rolling and then aged another two years afterward.
