All Cigar Discussion>Ever had a bad box?
icehog3 09:03 PM 01-25-2013
I've had a couple different Ramon Allones boxes with very loose draws. They burn a bit hot and fast, but I would much prefer that to a box where the cigars were very tight.

I agree , if a cigar is burning like that , at least you can slow down and let it cool off naturally.

I took them to the B&M and we smoked 4 of them. Only 1 of those smoked ok. The 3 were very loose and tasted empty. They swapped out the unsmoked sticks for credit. So I'm pleased. But still perplexed at how Padron's can have such varying quality like that.

I don't have a habit of smoking fast. I've been very careful to pace myself.

Any chance I can buy the rest of that box?

If there is anything left after I am done, it's all yours. And I don't care if it tastes like broccoli. :-)

I've had loose nc's, quite a few. If they're soggy or loose, I just slow down. That's a real simple fix. What totally sucks is when they're tight on one side and loose on the other and never stop running. Or when they're tight outside and loose inside and tunnel.
If I had to name the one defective that truly bums me out, it's a tunneling cigar. There's no fixing it and they taste awful.
Slow your roll, Scotty. That should solve your problem.
Good Luck!!!
Same here. I had a box of Saint Luis Rey's where maybe three out of the whole box were smokeable. The rest were plugged. I don't mean a tight draw, but no air through them at all.

First true bad box of cigars, where every single cigar so far (16 out of 25) have either been plugged or/and so harsh tasting that I have considered throwing the rest out. It was a box of Bolivar Petite Coronas (2011) purchased from the LCDH on 63rd in Varadero.

I knew I should of stuck with the true and tested cabinets of 50's instead of the dress box!
