Considering the volume of packages delivered every day by all the major carriers, I think that they all do an exceptional job. My preference is USPS because for me, they are generally cheaper and faster.

USPS is horrible too. They "lost" a legal machine gun legally being shipped off to.have work.done on it. They also took 13 days to deliver something that was supposed to take 4 days

:-)

The West Coast precursors to UPS did not deliver their first package in Oakland until 1919, and after mergers with others the East Coast company that finally called itself UPS didn't start in major cities until the '30s. Between 1940 and 1959 they acquired "common carrier" rights to deliver packages between addresses both public and private. Not until 1975 did they begin servicing all 48 contiguous states.

FYI, I was born in 1951. President Eisenhower signed the Federal Aid Highway Act in 1956, which led to the building of our interstate system. Ya think maybe that had a little something to do with the growth of UPS? :-)

So, the answer is no. You weren't.

You were just not serviced by them.

True . . . my plight was the same as was that of the overwhelmingly vast majority of the world's population, which of course invalidates my position. :-)

Sorry if historical facts conflict with your opinions. Mea culpa.

All I ever hope for with any parcel service, is that this is NOT my delivery man:

I should have taken a pic but I got home late from out of town. Received a cigar package I won from J Fuego today via USPS. The priority box was crushed and covered in dried mud front and back. Looked like someone played soccer with it in the rain and then rain it over with a bicycle. Seriously had some tread marks on it.

Opened it up and the 8 cigars inside were perfect. That is all that matters to me. I really lucked out. First time I ever received a package that mangled.

My experience, don't use UPS for international shipments.
Everything gets handed over to Customs and even if it is not a dutiable item you still get dinged for the taxes on declared value and 'handling / brokerage' fees.
Good old USPS is the best.

Your mileage may vary....
