It takes longer to adjust but I believe it eventually equalizes.

When I get home today, I will place a hygrometer inside one of my cigar boxes and see what % of diference there is between the inside of the cabinet and the inside of the closed box.
It will be interesting to see if there is any diference whatsoever.
