Spanish moss hanging from the live oaks. This is a small neighborhood park on St. Simons as well, that used to be a small Indian village way back in the day:

I dug up the ancestors of these Iris in the marsh ponds south of New Orleans while we were "fishing for TV" back in the late 80s.
Technically, they are the same plant, I guess. They were grown in St. Louis, MO, Concord, NC and now in the mountains of
western NC. OOps, NOT there.....in Memphis, INSTEAD of western NC. My mother couldn't or didn't want to move them and
deal with them up in the high elevations. I imagine I will dig one up for her, though, and take it to her when I visit soon.
This is one of my two favorite Nikkor manual focus lenses, an 85mm f/2. My real favorite of the two is the 105mm f/2.5.
Both of them create such wonderful photos. I think the 105mm can be had used these days for $150 or so, worth every
single penny, IMO. 85mms seem to demand an unfair (to me) premium and are tough to get under about $250. But the
F/2 seems to be a really good performer in a wide variety of light conditions, despite the "slow" f/2. Everyone seems to
want the 1.4 or 1.8, and they are surely fine lenses. I just mean I have never thought "if I only had the 1.4"

Inside the main lobby, a detail from the ceiling. I'd bet that's all hand painted:

I ought to have some nice portraits next week, nothing racy (I don't think) when I shoot some promo shots for a young
and hungry country singer in town. Hard working young lady, but NOT WAY talented. But she writes and plays well enough,
and dogs don't cover their ears when she sings, so she will get there I hope. She mostly "sweets" her way into a crowd's
hearts, and the music works it's way into folks as the night goes on. But I really wanted the chance to shoot some stuff like
this for free just to show I can do it and to generate a little interest in a music-rich town. And most of these people just have
no money. If my hobby's product is the only thing holding them back from being noticed, I want to do something to make it
a cheaper and easier road for them. This is a learning hobby for me right now, but if I can make money for it one day when I am
too old to want to work, it sure will be a great help.

And lordy, if I don't give my other buddy Karen equal time, it would not look good. Same night, a wonderful,
cool, breezy, fun evening in Memphis.
