At one of the local cigar shops the other day, met one of the umpires from the crew doing the Reds/Cards ganes here in Cincy. Pretty nice guy (he likes cigars so that's a given right?) and had some funny behind the scenes stories. I now have a pretty good idea what sort of stuff gets discussed at those pitcher's mound conferences. :-)

Tom, how do you feel about the idea of bringing Jhonny P back?

The talk is they're going to put him in left field. Not sure I like that idea. I think IF they feel it's worthwhile to bring him back, bring him in selectively off the bench as a pinch hitter, not in starting in LF. IMO, Dirks/Tui are each batting 265-ish. Jhonny's 295 isn't worth the lack of range/skill at that position. If Tui can't get out of his funk, get Castellanos more reps between now and October. Just my :-)

I like the idea of Peralta getting his hacks, Mike, but I certainly understand your defensive concerns. Tigers' hitting is an issue now, wouldn't hurt to get his bat in the line-up. Maybe AJ can just shade towards left? :-)
