Had Booneville HOP IPA

Southern Tier Creme Brulee Stout. Gifted to my wife and I by Ashtonlady. WOW!!! GOOD stuff!!! Even before you taste the beer, you get a nice inhale of the creme Brulee flavor.

We did "Octoberfest" tonight here. Brats, onions & sauerkraut, boiled red potatos, cole slaw, pickles, and chunky applesauce. Served with Paulaner Octoberfest and a Schneider Aventinus Weizenbock. Yum! :-)

I really like that stuff, its not something I'd drink everyday but a nice treat.

Went fishing on the Mississippi River today for smallmouth bass. Caught about 15 fish, had a great time. Saw a bald eagle dive into the water and grab a fish. So neat. Came home thirsty. Had a Tallgrass Oasis, and now drinking a New Belgium Hoptober. Terrific day.

Today was bottling (and tasting) day for my Russian Imperial Stout that was targeted at a KBS clone.
I may be off a little, but time will tell.
I had a taster of it and a few Schlafly Saisons.
The RIS tasted ALOT like a very green un-carbonated Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee Stout. It should be a REALLY nice beer in a few months.
The Saison was solid. I like the Schlafly rendition. very solid.

Bluegrass Brewing Company Bourbon Barrel Stout. Mmmm.

Just knocked over a Delirium Nocturnum....MEH.. Typical Belgian IMO. The only thing interesting about it was the bottle....the stupid PITA foil around the top. Never will I buy another. If belgian beer is what I seek Rochefort is my answer.

Yesterday's cup of relaxation. :-)

Yep Rochefort 10 & St Bernardus Abt 12 are the two best Belgian Beers!

That Rochefort picture has me licking me lips....posted this in the wrong thread earlier...

highlights from beer fest, what I can remember:

Shorts Key Lime Pie
Firestone Walker Parabola
Bruery Oude Tart and Black Tuesday
Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout
Goose Island Bourbon County
Avery Dépuceleus
Ithaca Le Bleu and Brute
Rocky Mountain Brewing Da Yoopers (literally liquid cherry pie in all the good ways, unlike anything I've ever had, flaky crust was most definitely a flavor)

I was also happy to get in some beers from a few strangers to Colorado such as Duck Rabbit, Alesmith, Pizza Port(s), Cigar City, Ninkasi, New Glarus and Three Floyds.

Delirium Nocturnum is known to be a pretty mediocre Belgian beer. But, I would certainly not write off all other Belgians. as good as Rochefort is, there are many others also worth your while.

Here is a list of the top 50 Belgian beers, as rated by the users of Beer Advocate. There's a ton of great beer here, and most of it is pretty easy to find.

And Delirium isn't even on the list. :-)

Had a SN Tumbler. Didn't like it and yet have found a SN I enjoy.

Going to grab a Three Floyds Gumballhead since they got them on special at the bar.

That's just wrong. Another statement like that and we're just going to have to revoke your man card. :-)

Just not a fan of a burnt water flavor. :-)

I'm drinking my first ever Surlyfest, and loving it. While I would not consider this an "Octoberfest" beer, it certainly is a wonderful autumn-inspired malty beer. Personally, I'd have given it a bit more carbonation, but I'm loving it this way too.

There is something about this that reminds me very much of Deschutes Black Butte porter. I'm guessing there are similar crystal malts but I can't tell for sure where the similarity lies, but there is a definite "Black Butte" taste going on here.
