Sports>New York Mets 2011 Banter

Interesting debate on sports talk last two days.
Beltran is obviously gone, but will the Mets trade him for a bag of balls and dump the salary, or shoot for a prospect while eating some salary?
:-)
If Jorgie doesn't start hitting, Yankee DH?
Beltran can play for me any day!!!

I would prefer to eat his salary and get a prospect (of the pitching variety). Why the hell not...we are already paying Perez and Castillo.
:-) :-)

I think all met fans want a prospect, but the question is what will the Mets do?
If you remember the Billy Wagner deal, they sent him away for a non prospect just to save 3 million.
When he signed with Atlanta, Boston got 2 draft picks for him.
Mets could've used those picks!

Just read that starting this year, the Mets will start paying Bobby Bonilla $1.25 mil. per year for the next 25 years because he deferred $5 mil in the 90's. Who the hell came up with that deal. So because of that, the Mets will probably make a total salary dump for Beltran before deadline and get nothing for him.

A very smart lawyer I'm sure...

With all the financial debacles the mets have made over the past few years, does it surprise you that in the 90's the made that deal with Bonillia?
I just hope the Wilpon's realize that they got a sweetheart deal to "acquire" the team, so they should just be happy with what they got out of it, sell it and get out of the baseball business.

Congratulations, Mac. After all, with the lone exception of the befuddling Twinkies, the 'Stros have the worst record in baseball, so you SHOULD revel in your victory.

Wright out at least 2 weeks with stress fracture in lower back, the Wilpon curse continues.

Mets drop one ot the Marlins 2-1 in 11 innings. Pelfrey looked good...7 strong innings. Gotta love Jon Neise pinch hittting and getting a hit.

Me? Hell, I'm not even playing!
Oh, you mean the Yankees. Yeah, THEY did, but you don't understand. They have to let the Rod Sux get a little taste now and then, just to make their ultimate defeat sting all the more.

Mets shutout the Nats tonight 3-0...we finally have company in the cellar.
:-)

Mets beat the Nats 1-0 and Gee pitches 7 2/3 great innings...this kid looks better with each start. And the good news...Mets are outta the cellar.
