Sports>New York Mets 2012 Banter
Dave128 07:34 PM 04-29-2012
Santana is way better than his record shows so far. The Mets have lost every game that man has pitched. He is pitching lights out this season.

boy, sure is, fun couple of games, glad to leave that place though. Never felt as if it was enough runs...ever!
kelmac07 03:51 PM 05-01-2012
Astros had our number in spring training...so the trend continues as they beat us 4-3 last night. :-)
kelmac07 07:39 PM 05-01-2012
Neise is getting lit up by the Astros, 5-0, in the 2nd inning!!! :-) :-) :-)
Dave128 09:29 AM 05-02-2012
Looked like they had a chance to pull this one out. Good news is that the entire division is losing a ton of games. We aren't losing any ground in the standings!
kelmac07 06:31 PM 05-02-2012
Astros whoop us again today, 8-1. :-) :-) :-)

Funny I was at work on monday and got asked if I regretted my decision not to follow this season. I said no, watch they will get swept by the Astros. good call on my part on both ends. I still feel for you guys though.

Bullpen "holds onto" one and the Mets beat the D-Backs 4-3. Finally ending the 4 game losing streak and giving Santana the win. The Mets score 4 runs for Santana...the same amount they gave him in his pevious 5 starts.

Mets beat the D-Backs today 3-1 and Dickey gets another win. Still over .500 and it's early May. Surprising the hell outta me. Especially since the bullpen has 5 blown saves and is 26th in ERA in the majors. :-)

I, too, have been pleasantly surprised so far this season. I was fully expected them to not be able to fight their way out of a wet paper bag all season.

As a side note: I noticed this morning that the Mets are currently sitting in third place and they have the same record as the Yankees (who, by the way, are FOURTH place in their division!).
kelmac07 09:13 PM 05-07-2012
Mets down 2-0 against Halladay and Wright hits a big 2 run double to tie it. Then rookie Jordany Valdespin (0-6 is his short career) hits a 3 run HR against Papelbon and the Mets win 5-2. :-) :-)

I just want to post to make sure you didn't think I was scared off, Mac... :-) Thank goodness it's a Marathon!

Awesome comeback win for the Mets! Wright comes through once again and pinch-hit HRs are fun to watch!

If the season ended in May, and was only 30 games long, this would be a Valid point! :-)
Unfortunately for you, the Yanks still have 130+ games to play.
Also unfortunate, so do the Mets! :-)
Dave128 09:47 AM 05-08-2012
I'm not seeing much room for the typical Yankee bragging so far this season.

Touche!! I said from the beginning of the season...if we finished in 4th place or higher in the NL East...I would be happy. That still stands true. We were picked to be 5th in EVERYONES pre season standings.

Not seeing any reason for Met Bragging.
They always seem to start hot and fall apart.
While for the most part, the Yanks start cold and finish strong.

Here are the Mets standings on May 8th for the last 6 years

Year ........ W - L........ GB ........ Playoffs
2007........ 20-12........ - ........ No
2008........ 17-15 ........ 2 ........ No
2009........ 15-13 ........ .5 ........ No
2010........ 17-13 ........ 1 ........ No
2011........ 15-19 ........ 4.5 ........ No
2012........ 16-13 ........ 2.5 ........ ?

And the Yanks

Year ........ W - L ........ GB ........ Playoffs
2007 ........ 15-16 ........ 6 ........ Yes
2008 ........ 18-18 ........ 4.5........ NO
2009 ........ 14-15 ........ 4.5 ........ Yes* World series win
2010 ........ 21-08 ........ .5 ........ Yes
2011 ........ 19-13 ........ - ........ Yes
2012 ........ 15-13 ........ 3.5 ........ ?

As a Yank fan, I see no reason to panic. :-)

Typical Yankee fan trying to justify a piss poor start to the season. Mets fans, however, don't need any justification for the same. We're just happy to not be sitting at the bottom of our division! :-)

Damn...I got nothing to say...nothing....WTF!!....so when stymied, always time for a Mets Joke:

Q: What's the difference between a Citi Field hotdog, and a Citizens Bank Park hotdog?
A: You can buy a Citizens Bank Park hotdog in October!

:-):-):-)

Keith and Joel in here on the same day? Must be a Phillies "damn we suck right now" kinda day. :-) :-) :-)
