:-) So how's the learning curve with the D90 compared to the D100?
[Reply]
ZERO....if you have been through the wringer on the D100, you can pick up the D90 and shoot away.
I will grant you that there are many adaptations to certain systems such as autofocus sensor arrays
that would take some reading to use most effectively, but everything works the same in it's most basic
procedures. Now, I don't know if you have used the D100 enough to know a lot of the ins and outs,
and my experience is non-typical in that I handled a ton of DSLRs in two months, and was forced to
basically shoot with them every day to evaluate them all and figure out what I kept and what I passed
on to loved ones. I also have a job where my boss does not use me efficiently and I can almost surf the
web all week, reading all kinds of manuals and reviews.

Yeah that's my main gripe with the D100, in that you have those six areas to use, take it or leave it.

I took photos of New Orleans that were among the best photos I have ever taken.
I have not really shown any of them here, nor are they on my photostream. They
have dynamic range to die for, with every subtle nuance of color and light that you
could imagine in various shots. Yes, the light was very good, but I have been in point &
shoots for so long, and then in CHEAP DSLRs for another period, and the progression has
been very stark and perfectly delineated. I knew what I was seeing as soon as I saw it
for the first time. People who started long ago in DSLRs might laugh at me, but while
I knew that their cameras were more capable than mine, I was not going to spend the
kind of money they did to get a picture out of a camera. I was seeing the world fine til
I met the D90. NOW I know how much I missed, its like recovery from cataract surgery
was for my mother. She got home and found out her house was dirty.
The pic I attached is sized way down to fit the asylum, and it might not be the best
example of the dynamic range I was talking about, but its a really nice photo. For some
reason I do not think it would have been possible with the D100 or D70.

That sucker seems feature packed, but for once in my photographic life, I can honestly say "F off, I'm FULL!"
That camera seems to shoot faster than any of mine, and one of mine will do 6 FPS. But I can't spare the room.
Man I have a lot of freaking cameras! I logged in to Ado as usual to see what they had for $75, but if it ain't
$75 nowadays, I can't get a rise out of the ole credit card. And now it looks like rain in N.O. this weekend, so it
puts me little photo safari in some jeopardy. Still, that would be three weekends in a row, and that's a lil much.
But I have made a bit of change off that trip last week, sold 6 prints today, some of the 13x19 variety.
That paid for my gas and ink and paper. I know its old news by now, but if anyone wants to buy a print,

We're pulling into port. Hope to slowly post some pix starting later tonight. I plan on taking the film in tomorrow or so.

Thank God, I thought I was gonna be alone in the thread with Ron...well, that's not right, he has picked up the pace
mighty fine lately and has posted a lot of pics lately....But I knew without you here, posting was gonna be awful slow regardless.

Well sitting here at my PC sipping on my newly "imported" Havana Club 7 Anos, waiting for my pics to upload to flickr.

That looks like your 18-55, Ron. I guess anyway. I was gonna say I recognize the bokeh,
but if i was wrong that'd look bad, lol. It does look familiar, though.
Sold about $300 in prints today at work. That fruit won't last long, but I will pick the low-hanging stuff gladly.
My lil printer KICKS ASS. I think by the time the other people on the fence see the prints tomorrow, I will end
up paying for the printer, the paper and the trips to NO.....that'd be a real plus. Maybe one day I can end up
paying for all the damn cameras.
