My condolences to the Red Sox fans. I was really hoping for a Yankees vs Red Sox ALCS.

Well the baseball season ended on an uncharacteristic whimper for the Sox yeaterday. Congrats to the Angels, they outplayed the Sox in every aspect of the game during this series and deserved the win. I hope they don't let up and go on to beat the Evil Empire.

As for the rest of Red Sox nation ... see you in spring training.

I live close enough that I might venture down there for a game or two.

Man, Was I happy I flipped over to the Sox-Angels game just in time to watch Papelbon blow it. Here he is afterwards watching the Angels Celebrate.

I don't know what Theo is up to, but so far it looks like a mess?
Trying to move Lowell and pay half his salary to move him. Yes he can't play the field anymore, but In the process you piss him off.
Gonzales signs with the Jays, Theo was hoping to get him for free, bad move.
What we are left with is Lowery and Green nothing more then utility players at best.
Bay is not signed and is looking for a ton of money and five years, Soxs won't go five?
A lot of talk about giving up the farm to trade for Halladay?
What we need is some power in the middle of the lineup, Ortiz is done he don't produce the big hits, no one is scared of him they throw fast balls by him and put the shift on.
We have a lot of holes to fill.
What do you think Nation?

Good bye Mikey Lowell, we'll miss you. You showed up every day, were always a professional, gave 100% all the time and exceeded everyone's expectations.

Theo -- we need a third baseman, (or even first baseman if Youk moves over)

I am almost certain Youk will be going to third which was his position originally. I am nervous about the Sox this year.....

Well it looks like the Sox are clearing the way for something big?
If it is to sign Adrian Beltre, this won't make them a better team and Theo should be fired.
The logical thing to do would move Lowell to first and Youk to third and save millions of dollars.
This team is a mess as it stands:-)

I can't believe that they are poised to let Jason Bay walk. Considering what they pay JD Drew, to let Bay go for a few million is insanity. I know they are saying it's all about the years, but really doesn't an extra year simply translate to some money? Witness the dough they are throwing away to get rid of Mike Lowell, (a move I will never understand - he can play first and he can DH). I know it's still early in the hot stove season , but I'm concerned.

John Lackey is taking a physical right now, a deal might be close:-)

Looks like we can pencil John Lackey in for our #3 starter. Not a bad top of the rotation!! :-)

Lackey is a stud. Hopefully he continues to pitch well and it pays off.

Red Sox are also about to sign Mike Cameron. Does not help the whole age thing and pretty much secures Bay not coming back.

It's not the money it's the years. The Sox were willing to pay 60 mil for four years. Bays agent broke it off he wants 5 years, Bays a good player but not a great player, A average left fielder at best, he hit a career high 36 homers Fenway Park was kind to him.
I hate to see him go , but Cameron age 36 will be a upgrade defensively, and still has some pop in his bat?
Theo is not done yet something still has to be done in the infield ?

I'm feeling more optimistic after signing Lackey. I don't know about Cameron .... still think they should have kept Bay. Now for an infielder ....
