Tonight will be a wonderful night.

About to try some Opa Opa Vanilla Bean Porter.
Gonna follow that up with a GI Bourbon County Stout, I'm curious to see how it compares to the KBS

I would love to hear how they compare Vic.
Had a Dogfish head IPA and now the dogfish head Aprihopes (I think that's the name).

The GI Bourbon County Stout is HUGE. I mean HUGE.
:-)
A bigger beer than the KBS. More bourbon, more dark fruit, more coffee, more malt, more alcohol, more everything.
When I poured this, it was like pouring motor oil. Black as night, and thick. Very little head, probably because of the high ABV.
Having said that, I'll say this again:
"Goddamn! That's a pretty ****ing good milkshake. Is it worth 5 dollars? I don't know, but it's pretty ****ing good!":-)
Because it's bigger and more intense I think it's going to age better than the KBS. Not to say the KBS won't age well, even after reading that one thread I still think KBS will improve with time.
Which is better? I don't know. I didn't dare do a side by side comparison, I have no desire to pass out on the floor,
:-)
In the end they are very similar beers. The KBS is not as big, a little sweeter, and has a certain something that the GI does not. The GI is more intense, has more bourbon, more wood, etc. and will cellar better I think, and it's slightly more accessible. The prices are similar, with the GI being slightly, and I mean
slightly cheaper. A couple of dollars per 4 pack cheaper at this level is not going to make a decision for me one way or the other.
Both outstanding, and I'm glad I have them both.

Thanks for the review on the GI Vic. I will have to keep my eyes open on the next trip to the store and maybe do comparison with a friend on GI/KBS.
Just glad you were able to stay off the floor.
:-)

I had a Surly Coffee Bender earlier, and honestly didn't care much for it. Now I'm drinking a Deschutes Black Butte porter and loving it.
