All our pitchers wind up winning when they leave Cincy.

Because Cincinnati couldn't win. If you go to a better team, by default you will get more wins. Cincinnati hasn't had a Halladay or a similar shut down pitcher. Cincinnati has pretty weak rotations in general, 3 (almost 4) of their starters would be fourth or fifth in most rotations. With the run support the pitching staff has got of late, it would be tough for most pitchers to win. Dusty also has a problem of leaving pitchers in too long and using bad pitchers out of the bullpen and they have already worn Chapman out (so much for the future starter/closer role).
:-)
Not so much with subpar position players. Hamilton was phenomenal when he was here, they had no vision. Stubbs and Gomes combined < Hamilton.

Sounds like Alonso is ready to go, this clears the way for the trade.
Gomes, Stubbs and Renteria, with a nice Double-A middle reliever.
Heisey to CF, Alonso to LF, Reyes to SS and lead-off, Janish plays back up to 3 of 4 IF positions. You upgrade two positions and get two better bats, one at leadoff.
Renteria gets put on assignment when he shows up and they have two sub par outfielders.

Are you reading this Walt?

I'm down with that. Alonso looks good. Hope he isn't a bust when he gets here, though.

Reds Ugh

Drew Stubbs 1 for 5! MVP! MVP! Nothing like a base hit in the bottom of the ninth when it means nothing. He did make it to 50 strikeouts today!

Can someone explain why Volquez is still the #1 starter? Dan, you are a homer, do explain.

Arroyo should be the #1 right now. I haven't given up on EV though. He's been light's out as of late after the first inning until today.
Today's game was an embarrassment. Only true offensive players right now are Phillips and Hernandez. Even Votto is below .300 as of late. He's been in a slump now for a couple of weeks.

Dusty needs to shake up this lineup, put someone in front of Votto who can get on base. Put Stubbs down to 8th and let him try to get on base for the pitcher to get bunted over. He hasn't been on base for Votto but one time during this recent run. Votto has struggled because he has to swing for the fences to have an effect on the game.

With Phillips and Rolen behind him?

And Votto's struggling right now. Phillips is the better player this month.

Remember, Dan thinks that Stubbs is a future HOF'er and Bruce is the future MVP.

I like Phillips, he and Votto are about the only players who come to play every day, as I have said before.
:-)
Votto has had little opportunity to drive in runners with empty bases. Put some runners on for him and allow him to play baseball. Phillips is doing better because he is essentially a leadoff hitter for the second inning.

Phillips, Votto, Hernandez, Hanigan, Rolen(?), Arroyo, and Cueto are the only ones who haven't looked horrible at this point. Hanigan can't hit, but he has decent at-bats and he calls a helluva game. Rolen and Cueto have been on the DL already too much, and Hernandez only gets limited field time. He should have been the DH every game in Cleveland. Hanigan behind the plate and Hernandez as DH.

Maloney and Frazier called up. Volquez and Smith sent down. Danny R Herrera has been DFA.

We should have made Gomes DFA.

And we should have left Maloney down in Louisville. Id take Willis over this clown, but Willis is hurt and probably about to go on the DL.

Man the Reds play a decent team or two and they can't come close to competing. Playoff rematch, my ass. They didn't even belong on the diamond with them. Below .500 against teams with a winning record, heck they have only played 11 games against winning teams and they stink up the joint.
