Last Friday I picked up the kids for a dentist appointment or so they thought and surprised them with a little road trip. Two hours later we hopped on an airplane destination Florida, Super Bowl XLIII. I have been a Steelers fan all my life and as a Steelers fan have done the mandatory brain washing of my kids. We go on a few road trips every year to Pittsburgh for games but this year I figured we would step it up a notch. A lot of stuff has been going on at home and I wanted to make sure the kids had some good memories of the past twelve months.
We flew to Orlando so we could take in Universal on Saturday and stay in a nice place. We did both Universal parks from open to close and met my brother and his kids who flew in from Chicago for dinner in down town Disney. Great night, the kids were so pumped up!
Sunday was game day and like a true Pittsburgh fan that means lots of tailgating. The good news for me was this was the first real time for a smoke
:-) Had a Boli GM and a few adult cocktails to get the blood flowing. About 4 pm we went to the venue to check out all of the stuff. Kids had a blast in the NFL Experience and the atmosphere was electric! We had a full day in before the game even started.

Game time! Had to split-up at the stadium my brother took his two and my daughter and I had my boy. I am not sure I can put into words the experience of standing in that stadium with my son by my side with the national anthem playing, it was surreal.

The game speaks for itself, the best game I have ever attended. I am not sure I would have felt the same way if the Steelers would have lost but we got number 6! Had a RA 898 in the parking lot after the game to celebrate and take in the atmosphere.

My kids had an awesome weekend and I am sure it will stick with them for a long time. See this was not my first Super Bowl my dad took my brother and I when I was my sons age back in January 1980. Still remember that day and the time I had and could not pass on this opportunity to pay it forward to the next generation.
Are you ready for some football!!!!!

Memories to last a lifetime, Sam.
Looks like the kids (and you) really enjoyed yourselves.
