So Jr. upholds the "next generation" does better than the prior thing.
He just bought himself the TV I long for.
The Samsung 52" latest model.
That thing is sweet.
Prices on these things are dropping like flies.
Amazing what you can buy this for.
I was just reading up on what appears to be the next level of the technology for these TV's.
They are costly as heck but apparently, the picture is AMAZING.
They are called OLED for Organic LED TV's.
Anyone know about this stuff?
Is it worth waiting for it to hit the market big time and ultimately to drop as the LCD's have?
I may not live that long.
:-)
Is it worth to buy the LCD's as the prices continue to get so darn good?
Anyone a techy on this stuff?

Oh... I haven't kept up really. Have they gotten the blue in the OLEDs to last more than 10,000 hours?

You can check them out at your local SonyStyle...They have a 1000000:1 contrast ratio versus 1000:1 from reg HDtv I believe... All I really know is that it's more clear, thinner than an LCD, more sharp and more expensive but sexy!

Oled is nice,Its going to take a while for Oled to get to a reasonable price. I would wait till you see the 240hz and 480hz LCD tv's come out.I just read they are coming out in 2009. Right now the 120hz LCD's make for a real nice picture in action and sports. If your familiar with motion blur with LCD's then you know what I'm talking about.
Me personally I like Plasmas more for some reason.

From what I have read online about plasma's life span is that the newer generation ones last a lot longer than the earlier ones. Even the burn in is supposed to be gone with the newer ones.

This is true. Plasmas have better color, but the old complaint was the screen life and images being burned into it. The newer plasmas are much better life wise. However, I do believe that LCDs do better if the TV will be in sunlight. If going in a dark movie room where you don't have to worry about the sun, I think plasma is the better choice but they don't handle glare well from what i've heard.
