General Discussion>Who didn't love On Top of Old Smokey!

Fred Kellerman, the last living member of The Weavers has passed away.

I remember hearing On Top of Old Smokey in elementary school, they would play the record and there was like a cheesy slide show that went along with it, for singing along of course!

Hellerman, Pete Seeger, Ronnie Gilbert and Lee Hays formed the Weavers in the late 1940s and recorded many folk standards, such as "If I Had a Hammer," "On Top of Old Smoky," "Goodnight, Irene," "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (also known as "Wimoweh") and "Tzena, Tzena, Tzena,"

I thought this thread was going to be about my Marlboro Light scarfing ex-girlfriend.

R.I.P.

My dad would sing that All The Time! As a result, I frequently hum the tune or sing made-up lyrics to that tune. Talk about an earworm...

Wow, I was just talking about the Weavers the other day with a friend. A great band. RIP.
