All Cigar Discussion>Cigar band desktop humi project......

I bought my first humidor, a 20ct. Cherry wood desktop, almost one year ago. I have been collecting the bands of the cigars I have enjoyed during this time and amassed quite a collection. Many of these cigars were acquired through group buys, passes, and just given to me by generous brothers of the leaf. I thought I would do something kind of special (to me anyway) in order to preserve the memories these cigars have given me. My 5 year old daughter and I spent a nice afternoon gluing the cigar bands on top of my first humidor. I think it turned out perfect, and I thought I would share it with you all. Let me know what you think!

Ahh... just posted on the other site. Nicely done. I've been saving all of my bands as well in hopes of doing just this sort of thing. I've seen the big projects that people do -- including the coffee table. I think that could be kind of interesting. It gives me a reason to smoke more too... for the materials.

Very nice! If you put several layers of varnish over it sanding lightly between each layer it will preserve the bands and give it a finished look. Check out the wiki article below.

It's obviously a fake. The Habanos sticker is on the wrong corner! :-)

Excellent job! I'd follow Lee's advice concerning the varnish to protect the bands.

Looks great! I've thought about doing something similar, but I still need to save up a few more bands.
