When you use the manage attachments feature it posts thumbnails that can be clicked and expand to view.
If you use an image upload site and the image tag on here (the little landscape icon next to the URL link icon) you can just enter the URL directly to the image, but have to be careful you don't upload a huge image that blows up the page and causes crazy scroll bars, etc.,
