I found him running across my floor in my room. I keep cigars but in a cooler. I checked my cigars (all of them) and found no beetles or holes. What do I do?

If you're sure it's a tobacco beetle I would freeze the cigars

Are you positive it was a tobacco beetle?

Then you're going to have to set your priorities straight. :-)

On a serious note, how sure are you it was a tobacco beetle? Is your home the perfect ambient temp/humidity % for them to be making their way around? How far away were they from your coolers? Just some questions I would be asking myself before you get worried.

As a common practice, and if you have the room allowed to do so, try and freeze everything upon it's arrival to you to help alleviate a situation where you would have to worry about things such as these.

This.Seems like a strange place to see one if you found no bugs or dust in your cooler.

Why walk when you can fly? Tobacco beetles have wings. Running on the floor typically isn't their shtick. Are you positive it was a tobacco beetle?

Obviously you need to freeze your whole house. :-)

If your boxes are closed and there is no internal indication, then they are probably fine. If you have the room, put all your singles in 5-finger bags on end so that the top is open and pointed upwards. Open helps keep the humidity exchange going. Check them every few days. Also, in 5-ers, you should be able to find room to do the freezer technique.

Make sure that you pulled everything from the cooler and cleaned the container.

Most of my cigars are in ziplock bags. I pulled my cigars and checked them all twice last night. Will do again this morning. I only found one of the buggers running across my floor last night. And yes I am sure its a tobacco beetle. I checked it against pictures.

How big was the beetle? If it was larger than 2-3mm, then chances are it wasn't a tobacco beetle.

Pics on the internet look a lot like June Bugs. Tobacco beetles are really small and fly. Also, as mentioned above, go ahead and freeze your whole house. I don't have any problem because I keep my sticks near my wife's side of the bed.
