Hey all,

It's been a while since I have done a review, but I felt this cigar needed it.

I have had this cigar laying around in my "smoke soon" box and never really got around to it. Well finally I did. And WOW, I wish I would have gotten to it a lot sooner.

Appearance/Construction: Nice looking lancero, with a pigtail.

Prelight Draw: A bit of spice with an almost Pepin like taste

First Impressions: A very nice start, it lit up well and drew near perfect especially for a lancero

Smoking: I was not expecting a lot of out of this cigar. I had not looked up any reviews, but Tabacalera Tropical usually makes some not so great bundle cigars. However, I was totally wrong about this one. At first there was a nice spice blast sort of like Pepin has in his cigars. After the first inch though it got really creamy and a sweet Nicaraguan leaf taste came shining through. At the halfway mark, I would almost swear it was an Opus X petite lancero. I kept tasting that same Opus taste at times throughout the cigar. Then at other parts the cigar took on it's own flavor that reminded me of Tatuaje. Really great cigar.

Final Comments: I usually smoke stronger cigars with no problem, so I don't know if it was a strong cigar. But I will say it tasted great and at times tasted like and Opus and at other times like a Pepin. All blended together well to give it a unique taste at other times.

I like those sticks. My local Tinderbox started carrying them after the IPCPR in Vegas. You might also want to try the Particulares by Tropical. That one is a little milder and very silky.

The Casa Fernandez hit me with a rather unique flavor when I smoked it. I remember eating Persian food and thought that's what it was but the flavor I was detecting was tea. Specifically a 50/50 blend of Darjeeling and Earl Grey that I was enjoying with the food. It was incredible that the cigar offered that flavor up. Then again the Darjeeling I normally find a little tannic with earthy core flavors and the Earl Grey has some citrus thanks to the bergamot oil.

I'm smoking one of these right now, and I'm with Mithshrike, I am getting a tea-like flavor out of it. I'm not getting any Opus or Pepin qualities out of it. It kind of reminds me of a fresh Monte #3 or Especial. Not saying it tastes like one, but that there are similarities at least. Very good, lighter cigar.

These sticks along with the rest of the CF line are true gems. You cannot go wrong with the Lancero--always smoking well to me.
