Looking for a crossover for the wife in the next 4 or so months. I really like the XC60. Do any of you guys have a volvo or XC60/XC90.

Had an XC90 a few years ago - a 2004.
At the time they were having transmission problems - we got rid of it so we wouldn't have to worry about a second replacement.
Newer ones probably don't have that problem any more, not 100% sure.

Wife had a 2005 XC90. At 70K miles it needed about 3 grand worth of repairs it shouldn't have needed until 150K miles or so. I swore I would never buy another Scandinavian car.

No unfortunately that was SAAB.... still love my Viggen anyway.

We drove the XC60 and the XC90, both were very nice but over procedure and really fuel hungry. Ended up getting a new Jeep GC. The interior is just as nice if not a little better and in a cheaper more usable vehicle.

Funny you mention the Jeep GC. Thats in the top five. Hows the gas mileage?
What do you mean 'over procedure' ? Sounds like a cell phone auto correct.

I bet "overpriced."
My wife had a GC a couple cars before the XC90, liked it quite a bit more. 2002 JGC, as I recall. The new ones are pretty damned impressive as well.
What are the other 3 contenders?

Somebody should tell the dealers.

MB GLK350, BMWX3/MAYBE X5, Audi Q5, Maybe Cadillac SRX.

Honestly, I am absolutely not a car brand snob, but the interiors of everything else in the class are horrible. Even the Acura is very very dated (at best). Also, Subaru is in the mix. Crash scores are a primary consideration with the morons we deal with driving down here.

took my wife's '95 850 Turbo off her hands in '05 when she bought a new XC70.

didn't think I would like the 850 but it was bullet proof on maintenance and very quick/fast. Drove it hard for 4 years and never had a problem. Sold it in '09. 6 years now on the XC70 and approaching 100K. Not one problem and the wife still loves it.

Chip, yes I meant overpriced, damn cell phone auto correct...

Anyway the GC is fantastic, we have the 3.6L as after driving both that and the V8 twice in 4 different jeeps I did not notice a difference and don't have anything to tow. We get about 14mpg in the city and 22-24 on the highway and I have an extremely heavy foot, I tend to drive it more like my SAAB Viggen than a Truck. We have had ours since March and have 9k on the clock. Feel free to ask any other questions. I will say if you ever want to do any real 4x4 it is the way to go.

Well...I have a 2002 Wrangler for any real off road. I read in Car & Driver or Road & Track that the interior overhaul on the new GC is amazing. We are going to start test driving stuff soon.

went from a 240 DL red wagon, to another 240 DL blue wagon, to a 2000 S40 and now in a 2005 S60-R...I'd say I'm a fan.

I would check out sweedespeed.com see if you can find info on your future purchase there. Ask those guys what the pros and cons are of that specific car..
