All Cigar Discussion>small issue with online order...
schollianmj 10:15 AM 11-01-2011
So I have been trying different sticks finding what I like and dont like, and noticed that a lot of people here seem to like the diesel UHC... So I found and decent deal for three of them and three La Relobas for 21 bucks at an online place. (not sure If I can name the site here, notice that a lot of people dont...) well I got my order in this morning after placing it at about midnight on saturday and as I was putting them all into my Humidor I found that one of my Diesel's had split down the side. I took a pic and sent it to the company and asked if I could exchange it... Hoping Im not screwed. I was polite in my Email, so I doubt I pissed anyone off with it.

Any one ever had issues like this, and f so did they get solved?

Here is a pic of the damaged stick... Im thinking it is not worth trying to smoke.... anyone disagree?

It looks almost like it was cut with a box cutter. You didn't open the box with one did you?
I have never seen a cigar split like "that", I think it was cut some how.
If it happened in transit or at the warehouse they should replace it.
They are great sticks it is a shame to see one trashed.
I dont think it will smoke like that, the air will suck through the cut and not the foot.

It happens, you were perfectly in the right, and I'd be shocked if they didn't take care of you.
Cigars being a handmade product, problems happen. We all accept some degree of imperfection. What you're looking at is way beyond that degree. :-)

You could probably use cigar glue and fix it. I think that would work. But yeah that's weird and I doubt it would smoke.

It pains me to see a great stick be killed like that. Deisels are great smokes, never had a bad one. I also, have never had a supplyier not make something right.

nope, no box cutter. the cello that it was in was un damaged as twas the plastic bag all six were in, as was teh bubble wrap around all the sticks in the box... no damage to the box either. It was to hard to get a decent pic of, but the whole middle of the stick has swelled up a bit, the band at the foot is rather tight and it honestly looks like it just swelled and split. (think the fat kids pants when he bends over to pick up a dropped cheeto...)

I see what you mean, I imagine they will make it right:-)

If they don't you can always shred it and sprinkle it over a bowl of oatmeal:-)

So I just recieved a responce from Andy at cigar.com... He apologised for the trouble and said next time i place an order to call them and they will toss in two of the UHC's for me to replace the one split one. I like that type of customer service. Really makes me feel good about doing business with them again. I know issues pop up from time to time, thats not a downer for me, its how they fix it that keeps me ordering from them.

Can't go wrong with Cigar.com, or CI. StogieBoys had great customer service as well.

Is cigar.com a CI affIliate? I had a good experience getting 5 replacement cigars from CI. They didn't even request I return the damaged ones.
