I feel a need to acquire one. Was looking at
this but at 99.95 with $32 in shipping it is a bit pricey. Wondering if anyone can recommend a good, possibly less expensive set, or, if this is one of the best out there, what I should use to finish it. Paint? Polyurethane? Cigar Bands?

I second the suggestion for making your own. It's amazing what they charge for a couple boards with feet. If you have no power tools that could make it much more difficult, but not impossible. Lowes or Home Depot will cut the wood for you when you buy it. It's just a matter of putting the hole in at that point, which could easily be done with a cheap jigsaw and a sanding disc on a Dremel.

If you were closer Pete, I'd make you for the cost of materials. I'm going to be making one for my fiance's family with the family name on it in a nice Irish green. Super simple to make, and many stores sell the corn bags cheaply.

Best I've seen yet.
These come with bags, a rope pre-measured to the distance you should set your boards from each other, they attache to each other (bags fit inside) and have a handle for easy carrying, and best of all it comes with a mount for your garage/basement wall for easy, out of the way storage.
Plus they don't weigh a million pounds like many plywood boards.

There are several talented woodworkers on this site, I'd imagine a trade could be worked out for a set. These look pretty simple to make...you supply the beanbags.

Victory Tailgate in Orlando does a great job. Victorytailgate.com get the plain and then add the bands then laquer finish. If you have the bands done you can get them to add them they said when i got mine.
Great place and stands behind the bags and boards!!
