Accessory Discussion / Reviews>Zero Halliburton foam question - dimensions?

All,

I would appreciate any help you can lend.

Currently looking at adding foam to a recently acquired Zero Halliburton camera case (100c, or the same size as the Ambassador case)

While there are plenty of available foam inserts on eBay, I would rather have an idea what the approximate dimensions (specifically thickness) of the foam inside the lid.

For those of you with the original zero ambassador models, is the egg crate foam domed (to match the shape of the lid) or mostly squared off? How thick is it?

Of course, any photos would be greatly appreciated, but I am trying to wrap my pretty little head around what this piece of foam looks like when out of the case.

Ted, I have an Ambassador and bought a foam kit from Ebay. It came with three pieces. The eggcrate for the top and two pieces for the bottom. The top looks to be a couple inches from the tips of the points to the bottom of the pad. The tips are almost flush with the edges of the top. The other pieces are a little over 1/2" thick. I like the versatility of being able to take out foam as needed. For the big herfs I take out all the foam and just load it with fivers. For a normal one day affair I use the top and a single bottom piece. :-)

Thanks, amigo!

I guess I was worried more about the foam being "too thick" rather than "too thin", bit it sounds like that is not the case (no pun intended)

Did you have to trim the edges of the egg shell, or did it fit perfectly when received?

All the foam fits perfectly. The smaller pieces have the corners trimmed a bit. There are no cutouts in the top foam(the original has cutouts for the hygrometer and credo). Dan(Dball) has a cool mod to add a LED strip for lighting. :-)

I bought my foam from Ron at Cigar Solutions. He had it precut for the humidor. I think i have the same size one. I got the egg shell for the top and a tray for the bottom. I decided not to get any more foam trays as I use single baggies to get more cigars into the humidor.

I tried to get the LED strip to work in my 50 count, but it didn't fit. That was PART of the reason I decided to go with a Zero.

Don't need the cut-outs, as I will not be using a credo or hygrometer.

I have purchased trays from Ron in the past, and love the product... Why didn't I think of him?!?

Ted, I couldn't get the strip to fit in my 40ct the same way as the hali.
Here's what I did to solve that problem.

Thanks, Dom!

I ran into the same issue, and would have made the modification if a Zero didn't fall into my lap.

Again, thanks for the contribution, mi amigos!
