All Cigar Discussion>Rule Of 3rds

Was reading another post in which several people talked about the "rule of 3rd's" used when storing and then smoking new cigars. The said that there was no truth to this rule and it was up to the individual smoker when it came to aging their cigars. That makes perfect sense to me but what actually is the rule?

:-) Wow I missed that....That's great, apparently people were misled by our little joke. Such a shame, they should read that thread so they can laugh too :-)

Thanks for clearing that up. The reason I asked, is that I just bought a new humidor, which has been seasoned along with several new cigars (Romeo Y Julieta 1875's, Padron 2000's, Alec Bradley T11's and Oliva Serie V). I normally will let the new cigars rest at 4-6 weeks, while I smoke my older aged cigars. I thought that if a rull trully existed, that it might be interesting to "test" it out.

Nope, no rule. More of an inside joke spun out of control :-)

That might help but really you need to cut the cigar into thirds and throw out the first third so you can get right to that "sweet spot".

It all makes sense now, so when people do a review and break it down to thirds, they literally smoked one third at a time. I see know.:-)

You should ask Starscream about his "Half A Lusi" experiment ...

I saw that and while that was funny I found the message you wrote to him on a bag with an old Lusi much funnier :-)

Why not a rule of 2?

Hitchhiker from There's Something About Mary: No! No, no, not 2! I said 3. Nobody's comin' up with 2. :-)

Cutting a Lusi in half gives you more Lusis to smoke.:-)

Are you guys sure there is no rule of 3's? Because I know a guy that knows a guy who's best friends brothers mother swears by it. Along with cutting the cigar in 3rds AND the rule of 5's.

And here I was hoping that there was actually a rule of 3rds, like in people's reviews. First third....second third.... :-)

Personal preference is the key, to me wait 7-10 days after buying before smoking, unless you bought 2 or more of the same and can't wait to smoke then by all means smoke one and let the others rest.
