Walk away Hugh. 1.6 is a way, way outdated version of the Android OS.

The best budget Android tablet right now, in my option is, is the Viewsonic G-Tab (around $300, was on sale for $250 a couple weeks ago), or if you are looking for something smaller, the Samsung Galaxy Tab (original, 7 inch version) which you can find around $300 also. That is until the new line of Archos "G series" Tablets comes out.

I'd say super no, Hugh. I'd find something tailored to what you specifically need. If you're looking for an ereader, a kindle or ipad is kickass.

My wife has an iPad and I have a Kindle. Neither of us would recommend using the iPad as a reader unless you are only reading indoors.

The iPad is great for alot of things but the display sucks outside in the sunlight... I can read on the Kindle anywhere and it is a fraction of the price of an iPad... Just my :-)
