My AVG detected a malware and sent it to the vault. Now when I try to open any program or file I get the dialog box asking choose which program to use to open the file.
I was able to open IE through a different link from a Lenovo help link on my pc. I can't get Thinkvangate to run.
Any suggestions?

You have a file association issue. You can browse and point to the correct application to reset the association or try to restore the PC to a pre-issue state.
If you are not sure what application opens which file extention, I may be able to help or
a quick web query will find it.
I would try to re-associate the file extentions first before going through a restore.
