Ok soo it basically looks like winter, for the most part, is over here in NJ. A lil chilly some days but looks like no more snow. It is also march soo that means 1 thing, to me atleast. SPRING STRIPER FISHING!!!!!!!!! I am yet to go, hope to change that shortly, but this means I will soon be out on sandy hook drowning some clams and hopefully pulling a few cows thru the suds and onto the sand. Shortly after stripers, starts trout season and I will also be out to a few local spots to chase a few nice trout. Am I alone or anyone else excited to go throw some bait no matter what your going for?

I am excited too! Grew up with a pro bass Fisher, so it's in my DNA! Stripier rock, but I kinda like crappie fishing. Either way I got the serious itch to get on the water!!!

Soon enough. If you go over to the outdoorsman banter you'll see that at least one of the members is already getting out on the water. Can't come soon enough as far as I am concerned.

I haven't been this excited for bass season in a long long time.
Plus my dad said I can take his boat out this summer if I want.

Here's the nicest one I pulled out...

Nice fish. To me there is nothing like when a big ole striper grabs a clam and takes off down the beach! I do enjoy large/small bass and trout, but stripers are my favorite. How can you really beat sitting on the beach cigar in hand and a cooler full of icy cold beer?

We're still going out on the ice and HAMMERING the crappies right now. Decent sized ones too. 12-13".

Walleye fishing is coming soon here. been watching the first cam towards lake of a river that has a few towns and cams on it to see when they do and hopefully ice will be gone or semi fishable without an ice chunk taking your rig..

Can't wait for the water levels to get up a little bit so my uncle can get his boat in the water...until then I'll be hunting for some peacock bass around here, they put up a hell of a fight

I would love to land a peacock bass some day...those things are MONSTERS!!
:-)
I can't wait to get out on the water. Trout season is not too far away, and as soon as the weed beds start to develop a bit, I'll be out looking for Northerns...after that it's bass for me.

Back when I was younger, we'd know when spring arrived. It was time to go bullhead fishing. Nothing like sitting on the banks of the Mississippi after dark with the lantern lit and just killing the bullheads. Often, we'd sit there till the wee hours. It was fun, but for some strange reason these fish have left. That, and I'm too old to sit on a hard rock.

Nice catch Dom! Do you only striper fish from a boat or do you surf fish at all?

I may just have to get out and see if the Bass are hitting in my pond. Seems like they might be quite hungry this time of year.
