General Discussion>Grilling Gone Wrong

Last night was supposed to be totally relaxing! I would be home by 5, fire up the grill, and make burgers for the family. Only it happened NOTHING like that. Here is how it all went down!

- I had to work until 5:30. No biggie.
- I had to stop by Kroger to get lettuce and tomato ($3.89/lb!)
- I get home and get sidetracked, and spend 30 minutes trying to fix our broken dishwasher.
- I finally make it outside with my son to fire up the grill - only it doesn't fire. The ignition switch is out and I don't have a 9v battery.
- I go inside to look for matches. While I'm inside my dog yanks one of the 4 raw burgers off the plate on the grill and devours it.
- I get upset and kick my dog (I know) and the dog jerks back and knocks my son over - he starts crying.
- I decide to "grill" the 3 remaining burgers on the stovetop. Which means the cigar I lit outside was extinguished.
- I get the burgers going and all is going well - son has stopped crying, the stove top grilling isn't terrible, and we're about ready to eat.
- I reach for the buns. I don't see them. I ask my wife. Nope, forgot. So I pull out the sliced bread.

Not how I planned it. I was pretty frustrated - all day at work I thought about sitting outside with a cold one and a cigar, while the burgers grilled and my son played with the dog.

But then my wife said this - you know, we have plenty of food. And the boys aren't crying. And the dog ate fresh meat for dinner. Things are pretty good if you think about it.

And, of course, she was right - we have MUCH to be thankful for!

Lol, I think I can "fix" the grill with a $2 battery, so hopefully we're good!

This is why I wing it for dinner so often. The best laid plans are soon reduced to smoke and ash.
