I was at an antique store when this lighter caught my eye. I loved the classic styling with the chimney and flint ignitor and the fact that it runs on butane. Even if it leaked I figured it was still worth $8 because I liked it. After filling it up I was not surprised that it was leaking from both the filling valve and nozzle. After installing a new o-ring for the valve (the old one was rock hard) and a new rubber stopper for the nozzle (the lid has a spring loaded rubber piece that covers the nozzle when it flips down) it held butane and works perfectly. I think I have a new favorite lighter. I know it's not fancy or valuable, but I like it. :-)

See I wish I know how to fix a lighter. My grand father used to smoke cigars and he sent me this really neat looking one, but It leaks out the back, and the best I could do with it was light my hand on fire. . .

I don't know how to fix lighters myself either but knowing this place I will bet you that you will have an offer for help to fix up grandfather's lighter before you know it. That is the great thing about this nuthouse there are people on here that know how to do anything and a willing bunch to help others in need.:-):-):-)

Ha ha you're right I'm constantly surprised about the people here. I've seen some of the worst things imaginable online, but I think it all balances out, you just have to know where to hang out. That's a good idea, maybe I'll make a post asking if anyone can give me a hand or point me in the right direction.

Thank you all for the compliments. I'm thrilled there was some interest in the topic after all.

Don't feel bad, TheFool. This lighter scorched my hand when I got it home too. :-)
