I think it has a lot to do with the a$$-busting they did over the holidays. Lots of comp time, vacation and rest.
I got a package from Memphis to Afghanistan in 6 days. OK, THEY got it there, but it shows a definite putting forth
of effort they usually don't make. But I mailed it WAY too late to get there for christmas and somehow they did it.

Holidays seriously increase the single day volume on the Tuesday after. This ripples forward for a good part of the week. Time your orders not to ship over a 3-day weekend. :-)
